Stylish design hotel steps from the Bund I stayed one night at the Shanghai EDITION during a business trip. If you are looking for a stylish design hotel in central Shanghai close to the Bund and Nanjing Road, this is a very convenient option. The location is excellent — right next to a metro station, two blocks from the Bund and directly connected to Nanjing Road pedestrian street. The area is very lively and busy, but once inside the hotel it feels surprisingly calm and peaceful. The hotel has a very distinctive design — modern, stylish and quite trendy, with a strong focus on interior design throughout the property. My room was spacious with a large bathroom, and the amenities were from Le Labo. Everything felt comfortable and well maintained. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and professional. Breakfast was very good. The buffet itself is relatively small, but there is a large à la carte menu, which offers plenty of additional options and works very well. The gym is not very large, but the equipment is modern and when I visited it was mostly empty. There is also a small indoor pool which is nicely designed, although it would probably feel quite crowded if several guests wanted to use it at the same time. One small downside is that the waiting area for the lifts and the elevators themselves are very dark due to the design concept, which sometimes makes it surprisingly difficult to see the floor numbers on the buttons. The hotel also has several restaurants and bars. The Japanese restaurant on the top floor is particularly good and worth visiting. Overall a very enjoyable stay and a great option if you want a modern hotel in a very central Shanghai location. I would definitely consider returning.

The hotel boasts an excellent location right on Nanjing Road, making it incredibly convenient for shopping and dining. There is a wide variety of food options just steps away, offering plenty of choices for every taste. It is also just a 5-minute walk to the Bund, which is perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the iconic riverside views. If you stay on a higher floor, you can even enjoy a beautiful view of the Pearl Tower right from your room. The room is comfortable, providing a relaxing stay after a day out. The staff are attentive, friendly, and proactive in their service, which adds to the overall positive experience. Breakfast is delicious with a good selection to start the day well. Overall, a great choice for both convenience and comfort.

The Edition Hotel was an amazing experience. The hotel is very clean, and the service is excellent and highly professional. The location is perfect in the heart of Nanjing Road, close to everything. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable, and luxurious. A lovely touch was the daily fresh fruit or berry plate delivered every morning. Definitely worth repeating

Stayed at The Shanghai EDITION and had a very mixed experience. The initial room was disappointing. It was a standard entry-level room with an ugly, depressing view of the back of a warehouse. This is not what one expects from a “premium” hotel, especially at this price point. The room itself was ordinary and uninspiring. I requested a room change the next day and was upgraded to a much better room with a beautiful view of the Oriental Pearl Tower. That room finally met expectations in terms of space, design, and amenities. As a Titanium member and frequent traveler, I do question why this was not the initial assignment. Service was polite but underwhelming. Not rude, just lacking the attentiveness and refinement expected from The EDITION brand. Location is excellent, right in the heart of Shanghai’s shopping district. After similarly poor experiences at The Dubai EDITION and now here, this will likely be my last stay at an EDITION-branded hotel. The execution does not justify the brand or pricing.

Our stay at The Shanghai EDITION was nothing short of exceptional—one of those rare experiences where every detail feels intentional, elevated, and genuinely personal. From the moment we arrived, the service set a completely different tone than your typical luxury hotel. Ben, our concierge, was on another level. He didn’t just assist—he anticipated. From coordinating plans to offering thoughtful, dialed-in recommendations, he made everything feel effortless and elevated the entire experience. Clark, our personal driver, was truly outstanding and deserves special recognition. He was the definition of professional—always early, never just on time, with a calm confidence that immediately put us at ease. Navigating a city like Shanghai can be overwhelming, but with Clark, it felt effortless. He knew exactly where to go, how to get there efficiently, and made every ride smooth and comfortable. Beyond that, he was personable, friendly, and clearly takes pride in what he does. Having him as part of our experience elevated the entire trip more than we expected. And then there was the lobby bar… The evening bartender delivered some of the best service we’ve experienced anywhere in the world. I honestly feel bad for not remembering her name—the head lobby bartender in the evenings—because she absolutely deserves the recognition. We really hit it off, and what stood out immediately was her attention to detail. She even remembered that I drink tequila, which made every visit feel that much more personal. Her awareness, warmth, and ability to create a welcoming, memorable atmosphere were incredible. The cocktails were perfectly executed, but it was the experience she created that truly set her apart. I’ll genuinely miss those conversations—she left a lasting impression and was a big part of what made our stay so memorable. The hotel itself is stunning—modern, clean, and perfectly located—but what truly sets The EDITION apart is the people. This team doesn’t just provide service—they create an experience. Shanghai was already an amazing city, but this hotel made it unforgettable. There’s no question where we’ll be staying next time we’re back.
